iStent

iStent is a minimally invasive glaucoma implant designed to lower intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with open-angle glaucoma.

This tiny, micro-stent is inserted into the eye's drainage pathway during cataract surgery or as a standalone procedure to enhance fluid outflow and improve the eye's natural drainage system. By creating a permanent, fluid-draining channel, the iStent helps reduce IOP and manage glaucoma more effectively, often with fewer side effects compared to traditional glaucoma treatments. The procedure is typically performed through a small incision, resulting in a quicker recovery time and minimal discomfort. iStent provides a long-term solution for controlling glaucoma while potentially reducing the need for daily eye drops or more invasive surgical options.
