Corneal Transplant

A corneal transplant, also known as keratoplasty, is a surgical procedure in which a damaged or diseased cornea is replaced with healthy donor corneal tissue.

This procedure is typically performed to restore vision in patients suffering from conditions such as severe keratoconus, corneal scarring, or corneal dystrophies that have significantly impaired vision. There are different types of corneal transplants, including penetrating keratoplasty (full-thickness transplant) and endothelial keratoplasty (partial-thickness transplant), depending on the specific layers of the cornea affected. Corneal transplants have a high success rate, offering patients a chance to regain clear vision and improve their quality of life.
