LASEK

LASEK (Laser-Assisted Sub-Epithelial Keratectomy) is a refractive eye surgery designed to correct vision problems such as near-sightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism.

This procedure is a variant of LASIK, where instead of creating a corneal flap, the outer layer of the cornea (epithelium) is carefully removed and preserved before the underlying corneal tissue is reshaped with a laser. After the laser treatment, the epithelial layer is repositioned. LASEK is often recommended for patients with thinner corneas or those who are not suitable candidates for LASIK. The recovery period for LASEK can be slightly longer compared to LASIK, but it provides a safe and effective alternative for achieving improved vision and reducing dependency on glasses or contact lenses.
