Childrens Magical Taxi Tour

On Friday 6th October Charlotte, a member of our team, attended The Big Breakfast in aid of the Magical Taxi Tour.

The Magical Taxi Tour is a charity which takes children with life threatening illnesses to Disneyland Paris for a three day trip. It offers the children a break from their ongoing treatments and therapy, giving them the chance to spend time away from the hospitals with their families.

The tour is arranged by the Worshipful Company of Hackney Carriage Drivers to transport the 200+ children and their families to Paris. The families would not be able to undertake this trip without this organisation. The trip is only possible for them as there is specialised medical support readily available should it be needed.

This year Vision Correction London sponsored a black cab. Sponsoring a cab ensures the costs of the trip for a family are covered. The cost of the hotel for the cab driver as well as the family, all fuel and food as well as the park admission charges are covered. The taxi driver stays with their allocated family for the duration of the trip, even escorting them around the park.

At 6am on Friday morning the families, taxi drivers and sponsors met for breakfast at Canary Wharf. Charlotte had the pleasure of attending on behalf of Vision Correction London. Sitting at a table with representatives from 4 other sponsoring companies she got the opportunity to meet a range of people, some of which had been sponsoring the charity for over 4 years! After a hearty breakfast, consisting of a cooked breakfast, fruit, croissants, muffins and juice there was a series of speeches.

The Lord Mayor of the City of London attended and gave the final speech. This lead to everyone heading outside where the families settled into their allocated taxi with their driver. This gave the sponsor an opportunity to meet the family riding in their sponsored taxi.

At 7.05am the convoy headed off. The staff from the breakfast venue along with the sponsors stood on the pavement to wave the families off on their travels.

We thoroughly hope that all the families had an amazing experience and loved every second of it.
