Our Eye Surgery Technology

SCHWIND ATOS femtosecond laser

The SCHWIND ATOS femtosecond laser is the latest generation of femtosecond laser for laser eye surgery. Being a reference centre for SCHWIND, OCL Vision is the only group in the UK currently able to offer treatment with this state-of-the-art laser. It enables minimally invasive keyhole laser eye surgery known as SmartSight lenticule extraction as well as flap creation in FemtoLASIK. Its combination of innovative technology and intelligent design provides safety and precision in refractive corneal surgery. It uses a more gentle curved interface and very low energy making the treatments safe and precise.

The SCHWIND ATOS has a very sophisticated eye-tracking system. Its pupil recognition and cyclotorsion (eye rotation) compensation provide precise centring of the patient’s eye along the line of sight. The centring options and cyclotorsion compensation make it possible to treat prescriptions more effectively, especially astigmatism.

schwind amaris

SCHWIND Amaris 1050RS excimer laser

Considered the world’s most advanced excimer laser for vision correction. The SCHWIND Amaris is equipped with 7 dimensional eye tracking for precise delivery of laser pulses with compensation for the slightest eye movement during surgery. This allows precise correction of astigmatism as well as short-sight and long-sight. Smart-pulse technology leaves the smoothest possible corneal surface leading to exceptional visual quality. TransPRK is a no-touch alternative to LASEK which heals faster and with less discomfort. This laser allows for wavefront optimized, wavefront guided and topography guided treatments.

Femto-LDV-Z8-technology

Z8 Femto LDV laser

We are the only clinic in London to have the Z8 Femto LDV laser, offering the highest repetition rate of any femtosecond laser with overlapping, precise spots and low gentle energy delivery of all laser systems. This avoids the formation of opaque bubbles during LASIK flap creation which aids accurate eye tracking and results in rapid visual recovery. The Z8 is also used for laser corneal transplants and for keraring/intac surgery for keratoconus.

schwind peramis wavefront scanner

SCHWIND Peramis Wavefront Scanner

Wavefront abberometers allow laser surgeons to precisely analyse the optics of the visual system. The Peramis aberrometer has three to six times higher resolution than other commonly used systems such as the Idesign scanner. This exceptional performance is based on a high-resolution pyramidal wavefront sensor that measures ocular wavefront aberrations with an unequalled 45,000 measuring points.

Together with the integrated high-resolution topography with placido technology, this allows for extremely accurate assessment of corneal and ocular aberrations. This data allows OCL Vision surgeons to individually customise the wavefront based correction of your vision. Corneal wavefront analysis allows our surgeons to correct abnormal corneas and can be used in the treatment of keratoconus.

Femto-LDV-Z8-technology

Ziemer Z8 Femto LDV laser cataract surgery

OCL Vision are the only clinic in London to offer state of the art laser cataract surgery with the Z8 laser. Z-cataract surgery allows safe, repeatable, precision incisions and lens fragmentation for cataract surgery.

KXL2-technology

Avedro rapid corneal crosslinking for keratoconus

At OCL Vision we use the Avedro rapid crosslinking system for treatment of keratoconus and can combine this with corneal topography guided laser epithelial removal to improve corneal shape. Treatment time for one eye with Avedro is 18 minutes and 26 minutes for both eyes. Crosslinking can be combined with Keraring/Intac implants in severe cases. Epithelium-off and epithelium-on treatments are performed dependent on severity. The Avedro system is proven to halt the progression of keratoconus in over 98% of crosslinked cases.

pentacam hr

Pentacam HR

The Gold Standard in anterior eye segment tomography. Since its introduction in 2002, the OCULUS Pentacam® has proven itself indispensable and has come to represent the “Gold Standard” worldwide. Contact-free Pentacam® measurement provides the basis for precise and reliable diagnostics and successful treatment of the cornea. This technology is indispensable in the assessment of people for laser eye surgery and keratoconus.

Solix

Solix full range OCT scanner

SOLIX features ultra-high-speed scanning for a Full Range field of view for retinal, glaucoma and corneal diagnostics. Clinical utility is maximised with the integrated fundus camera and external IR imaging to enable the evaluation of Meibomian glands. The entire cornea can be captured in a single scan, changes in glaucoma patients can be assessed with RNFL, GCC and Vessel Density Trend Analysis and vasculature of the retina and optic disc can be visualised and quantified non-invasively.

Zeiss Lumera with Callisto

Zeiss Lumera operating microscope with Callisto virtual guidance system

OCL Vision uses the latest Zeiss Lumera microscope for cataract and lens replacement surgery. The integral Callisto system in this microscope provides intelligent real time image guidance for incision and toric lens alignment for better management of astigmatism during surgery

Optimis-Fusion-combined-SLT-YAG laser

Optimis Fusion combined SLT YAG laser

OCL Vision have the latest generation SLT (Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty) laser for treatment of glaucoma. SLT laser treatment has been shown to be more effective than drop treatments for glaucoma and can avoid the need for drops in most patients.

The Optimis Fusion YAG laser allows effective treatment of posterior capsular opacification after cataract surgery.

Eyestar

Eyestar OCT Biometry with artificial intelligence-based lens prediction

Biometry based on swept-source OCT provides the user with detailed information on the cornea front and back surface which has the potential to significantly improve cataract planning for astigmatic and post-refractive patients.

The Eyestar Cataract Suite also boasts an established IOL suite of state-of-the-art calculation formula, including Hill-RBF 3.0, Barrett’s True K and True K Toric, Olsen, Masket and Shammas no history method.

Endothelial cell counter for Fuchs’ Dystrophy

OCL Vision is a leading centre for corneal transplantation and uses specular microscopy for endothelial cell assessment pre and post surgeries such as DMEK and DSAEK.
